Oracle has announced the release of Solaris 11.4 SRU 87 (Support Repository Update), bringing a host of significant changes and enhancements to the Solaris 11.4 branch. Users can easily install the updates by running the ‘pkg update’ command. Additionally, users can take advantage of the free edition of Solaris 11.4 CBE (Common Build Environment), which follows a continuous publishing model for new versions.
The latest version of Solaris 11.4 SRU 87 comes with several notable changes:
- Updated Firefox and Thunderbird to ESR branches 140, replacing the previous branch 128.
- Inclusion of GCC 15.2 compilers along with updated versions of GCC 12.5.0 and 13.4.0.
- Updates to various programs such as BIND 9.18.41, 7-Zip 25.01, git 2.50.1, and more.
- Addition of new options to useradd utility for account activation and deactivation without the need for separate commands.
- Support added to sxadm utility for protection against microarchitectural TSA attacks on AMD CPUs.
