After four months of development, presented the December consolidated update of the KDE Gear 25.12 applications developed by the KDE project. The set contains published releases of 249 programs, libraries and plugins. Information about the availability of Live builds of new application releases can be found on this page. New versions of individual applications can be downloaded from the Flathub and SnapCraft directories.
The most notable changes:
- In the file manager Dolphin it is now possible to temporarily hide directories and files through the context menu, without having to move them to the trash.
- Kate, a text editor for developers, has improved Git support and now displays the latest activity in the branch list. Added the ability to frame content with escape sequences (bracketed paste) when pasting into the terminal via the clipboard. In the dialog for quickly opening files, called through the ⚡ button in the upper right corner, it is possible to go to a specified position in a file after opening it (for example, to position the cursor at the 10th character in the 15th line after entering the file name, you need to add “:15:10”).
- In the image viewer Photos (Koko) has expanded its editing capabilities and added a new tool for cropping photos.
The version of Photos for mobile devices and when using touch screens has expanded gesture controls, for example, the ability to pinch to zoom, shift the visible area when sliding with a touch, and switch to the next or previous image via sliding right or left. A slideshow mode has been added to the mobile version.
- Konqueror, a web browser/file manager hybrid, now includes the ability to export content in high-resolution PDF format.
- In a web browser Falkon added a button to quickly enable/disable the ad blocker.
