KDE Boosts Animation Smoothness, Optimizes KWin

The next weekly report on KDE development has been published. The most notable changes being developed for the release of KDE Plasma 6.6, scheduled for February 12:

  • KDE Plasma and KWin have significantly increased animation smoothness when using screens with refresh rates greater than 60Hz.
  • Optimizations have been made KWin, reduced the execution of unnecessary actions during compositing.
  • Provided the ability to mark individual windows to exclude them when Capture screen content (in screencasts, such windows and associated pop-ups will be hidden). A window can be marked via context menus in the title and task manager, as well as in the window rules editor.



  • Provided the ability to adjust the background saturation for the blur effect content. The default dark color scheme implemented darker blur and increased saturation by 150%.
