Mesa 25.3 Launches: OpenGL & Vulkan Free Release

After three months of development, Mesa has officially released version 25.3.0, a free implementation of the OpenGL and Vulkan API. The release tag was published on November 15, with the announcement appearing on the site only recently. The first release of the Mesa 25.3.0 branch is currently in the experimental stage, and a stable version, 25.3.1, will be released after code stabilization.

Mesa 25.3.0 brings support for the Vulkan 1.4 graphics API in various drivers, including ANV for Intel GPUs, RADV for AMD GPUs, NVK for NVIDIA GPUs, and others like v3dv, dzn, kk, and pvr for different GPU models. In addition, Mesa now offers full support for OpenGL 4.6 across multiple drivers, including iris, radeonsi, Crocus, and more, covering a wide range of GPU models.

Key innovations in Mesa 25.3.0 include the introduction of KosmicKrisp (kk), a new Vulkan driver that implements the Vulkan graphics API on top of Apple’s Metal API. An NPU Arm Ethos-U65 driver, as well as optimizations to the RADV Vulkan driver, have also been added to enhance performance for specific applications.

Overall, Mesa 25.3.0 brings significant updates and improvements to the OpenGL and Vulkan support for a variety of GPUs, expanding the capabilities and performance of these APIs across different hardware platforms.
