The latest release of the email client Thunderbird 145.0 is now available. Developed by the community and based on Mozilla technologies, Thunderbird 145.0 is built on the code base of Firefox 145.0 and is considered an intermediate version. Updates for this version are released before the next major release. In the ESR branch, designed for long-term support, the release Thunderbird 140.5.0 has also been formed.
Key changes in Thunderbird 145.0 include:
Added support for Microsoft Exchange using the EWS (Exchange Web Services) API. Currently, support is limited to email only, with the ability to use a calendar planner and address book expected to be added later. The built-in implementation of the Microsoft Exchange protocol is written in Rust and does not require installing third-party add-ons.
Enabled support for DoH (DNS over HTTPS).
Added the ability to manually configure email in the Account Hub interface, allowing users to manage multiple accounts for different email services.
Added the ability to manually configure connection parameters when creating an account for EWS (Exchange Web Services).
Discontinued Skype support in the address book.
Removed the “default_supports_diskspace.{HOST}” and “default_offline_support_level.{HOST}” settings.
Changed the use of the word “Spam” instead of “Junk” to mark unwanted correspondence.
