Published release of the project D7VK 0.3, developing the implementation of the graphics API Direct3D 7, proposed by Microsoft in 1999. The implementation works through broadcasting calls to the Vulkan API and allows you to run retro games based on the Direct3D 7 API on Linux using Wine. The project code is written in C++ and distributed under the Zlib license. The d3d9 backend code from the project DXVK was used as the basis for development.
The developer considered releasing version 1.0 instead of 0.3, but then decided that some problems still needed to be solved before it was fully ready. The note also noted that the developer will not seek to include D7VK in DXVK, as was the case with Direct3D 8 and Direct3D 9 implementations on top of Vulkan. The games Sacrifice, Disciples 2, Emperor: Battle for Dune, Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption, Screamer 4×4, 1NSANE, Hitman: Codename 47, Rune, X-COM: Enforcer and several have been confirmed to work in D7VK.
