far2l 2.7.0 has been published, a file port manager for Far Manager designed for Linux, macOS, and BSD systems. This project is evolving, offering a mature and convenient alternative to users familiar with a two-panel interface in the *nix world. The project is written in C/C++ and distributed under the GPLv2 license.
Key changes in this new version include:
- Resolved a long-standing issue with the built-in virtual terminal (VT). far2l now retains the original output of applications running in it, using dynamic reflow with correct line wrapping when the window size is changed. This enhancement improves the convenience of log analysis and compiler output viewing, editing, and copying to the clipboard.
- The package now includes the Arclite interface for working with archives, leveraging multi-threading of the 7z.so library and displaying a visual progress indicator of operations.
- Delivery also features the Hexitor plugin, a complete port of the hex editor from Far 3.
- Introduction of OpenWith, which provides a context-sensitive menu for opening files in associated applications.
- Support added (with a warning) for inserting and executing multi-line commands in the command line.
- Implementation of ‘$z’ variable to display the current Git branch at the command prompt.
- Inclusion of a wrapper script far2l-cd.sh, enabling the main shell to navigate to the directory where far2l was located at the time of exit.
- Updated plugins include
/Reports, release notes, official announcements.
