The KDE organization has announced the transition of the KDE Plasma 6.5 branch to beta testing and the freezing of the code base to only allow acceptance of functional changes. The release of KDE Plasma 6.5 is planned for October 21. More information can be found here.
Some of the main changes in KDE Plasma 6.5 include:
- Redesigned Breeze theme with rounded lower corners in Kwin windows, providing a new default window type that can be customized in settings. More details can be found here.
- Introduction of KDE Initial System Setup (KISS), enhancing system configuration during the initial setup process, including user creation, language selection, keyboard layout configuration, and network setup. Visual representations can be viewed here and here.
