Google Unveils AI-Enhanced Chrome Capacity

Google announced the integration of ten new AI-related features into Chrome. The first feature is the addition of a chat bot called Gemini, which can explain the contents of a viewed page and answer related questions without the need to switch tabs. Users can access Gemini by clicking on a button in the upper right corner of the screen, allowing them to ask questions in natural language and receive AI-powered responses. Gemini is currently available for MacOS and Windows users in the United States using English.

Chrome:

  • The ability to use Gemini as a virtual assistant to perform tasks on websites, such as buying items from online stores based on recipes found on a page. Users can interact with Gemini throughout the process and intervene if needed. This feature will be activated in the coming months.

  • The ability to summarize and compare information from multiple open tabs. For example, users planning a trip can easily access tabs with details about ticket reservations, hotel bookings, and event schedules using Gemini.
  • The ability to search for pages that users have previously visited. Instead of searching through browsing history, users can describe the content they are looking for in general terms, and Gemini will locate the relevant page.
  • Gemini’s integration with Google services, such as Google Calendar, YouTube, and Google Maps. Users can access these services within the current tab and perform tasks like scheduling meetings, obtaining location information, and searching for specific video segments.
