Openfix From Selectel: Remuneration For Rewriting To Rust, Creating Deb Packages And Correcting Errors In Spoke

Company selectel, specializing in the development of Linux OS based on Debian packages, has launched the Openfix initiative. This initiative involves paying cash rewards to enthusiasts for their participation in tasks related to the development and bug fixes in open-source software. The completed project codes will be published under the Permissive License while giving credit to the participants.

Three areas of activity have been proposed by Selectel for which they are prepared to pay:

  • Rescripting well-known open projects in Rust language. Currently, three tasks are related to rewriting the project codes from C to RUST of xz, c-ares, and libxml2 while retaining the original behavior.
  • The remuneration for rewriting the libraries libxml2 and C-ES is set at 350 thousand rubles, and for the XZ library, it is indicated that it is enough to associate the library threads and connect it with the existing serialization of the LZMA algorithm.
  • Creation and subsequent support of Debian GNU/Linux packages. It is proposed to create Debian packages for applications like Apache-Pulsar, Bash-Rit, Bazel, Bitwarden-Cli, Composefs, CVE-BIN-TOOLS, Doh-CLI, DUPD, DYFF, DYFF Firecracker, Griddb, Jailose, Keycloak, Oauth2-Proxy, Phoronix-TestSuite, PhotodedUpe,
