VirtualBox 7.2.0 Beta Testing Launches

Virtualbox Virtualization System 7.2 Beta-Release Announcement

A year later, since the form of a last significant branch, Oracle presented the first beta-release of the virtualbox virtualization system 7.2. The release is expected in the summer. Building with the beta version of Virtualbox 7.2 prepared for Rheel 8/9/10, Fedora 36/40, Opensuse 15.6, Ubuntu 20.04/22.04/24.04/24.10, Debian 11/12, MacOS, and Windows. The project code is written in C++ and is distributed under the license GPLv2+.

The main changes:

  • In the graphic interface, global operations are transferred from the drop-down menu to the side panel located on the left, and the tools for virtual machines are moved into separate tabs shown over the area with the right panel.
  • Added support for virtualization on host systems with Windows using processors based on ARM architecture.
  • Added support for launching guest systems with Windows 11 for ARM architecture. In a set of additions for guest systems, a new type of OS is implemented – “Windows 11/ARM”.
