PLWM 0.4 Window Manager Released in Prologue

The window manager plm 0.4 has been released, developed in the language Prologue and supporting mosaic layout of the windows. The project aims for high-quality code base and documentation, easy setup for user preferences, and coverage of typical needs of mosaic window manager users. The project code is distributed under the MIT license and can be launched using swi-prolog.

At this stage, the work is possible only in conjunction with the X-server, but the author is considering the implementation of Wayland support. The main features include:

  • Work in multi-monitor configurations.
  • Use of tags for grouping windows and dynamic formation of virtual desktops.
  • Application of the logical programming paradigm for functionality extension.
  • Design of the configuration file in Prologue code.
  • Integration of tasks with polybar and lemonbar.
  • Integration of the application menu with dmenu and rofi.
  • High performance with memory consumption of only 10-15 MB.
  • Usage of dynamic mosaic windows and classic mode with floating windows.
