After a year of development, SUSE has introduced the release of the distribution platforms. Various products such as SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, SUSE Linux Enterprise High-Performance Computing, and SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availance Extension are now available. The distribution can be downloaded and used for free, with access to updates and corrections limited to a 60-day test period. The release is available for architectures Aarch64, PPC64le, S390X, and X86_64. It will be supported until June 2031, with extended LTSS and LTSS Core support programs running until 2034 and 2037.
Unlike previous releases, Opensuse Leap 15.7 will not be based on the SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP7 platform. Opensuse Leap 15.6 will be succeeded by Opensuse Leap 16.0, expected in the fall. Opensuse Leap 16 is built on technology from the SUSE Linux Enterprise 16 branch while maintaining traditional package features. The release will include a new installer, transition to the Selinux access control system, and support for Wayland.
