Oracle has announced the release of Oracle Linux 8.5 GB and 1.1 GB for architectures X86_64 and ARM64 (AARCH64). Users of Oracle Linux 10 can now have open and free access to the YUM repository for binary packet updates (errata) and security fixes. The repository also includes sets of packages for Application Stream and CodeReady Builder.
Along with the core packet based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (nucleus 6.12), Oracle Linux offers its own core known as Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 8.1. This alternative to the RHEL core comes with advanced capabilities such as integration with DTRACE and improved BTRFS support. The Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel is installed by default and is designed to enhance the performance of Oracle Linux 10.
