DPSCREENOCR 1.5.0 Text Recognition Program Released

Release of dpscreenocr 1.5.0 Program for Optical Text Recognition

A recent release of the program for optical text recognition, dpscreenocr 1.5.0 utilizing tessecta, has taken place. Ready-made assemblies are available for Linux and Windows, with packages repositories for Debian and Ubuntu also provided. The program’s code is written in C++ and is distributed under the zlib license.

DPSCREENOCR allows users to capture an arbitrary area of the screen using a global hotkey and mouse, with the text within that area being recognized. Users can choose to copy the recognized text to the clipboard, add it to history, or send it to an external program.

The main changes in the new version include:

  • Language manager:
    • A column with the size of the language file is now included in the list of languages.
    • Text indicating the quantity and size of selected languages has been added.
    • The “Refresh” tab now displays the number of languages available for updating.
  • Added “Settings” tab, which includes:
    • Hotkey editor.
    • Interface group with a flag to control the visibility of the notification icon, with options for hiding the program window in the notification area when folded or closed.
    • Behavior group, which includes:
      • Option for playing sound at the end of recognition, with the ability to choose an audio file for playback instead of the built-in option.
      • Flag for automatic update checks when starting the program. By default, updates are checked no more than once a week, with the interval changeable in the settings file.
      • Flag for the automatic launch of the program (hidden in the notification area) at system startup.
  • Added “Check for Updates” button on the “Program” tab.
  • Introduced a command line interface with options “–help”, “–hide”, “-version”, and the “Autostart” command.
  • Updated Tessecta to version 5
