Ubuntu Sway Remix 25.04 Distribution Released

The release of the distribution Ubuntu Sway Remix 25.04 is now available, offering a pre-designed desktop environment based on the mosaic composite manager Sway. This unofficial version of Ubuntu 24.10 caters to both experienced GNU/Linux users and beginners looking to explore a mosaic window manager without extensive configurations. You can download the prepared assemblies for AMD64 and ARM64 architectures (raspberry pi) from here.

Ubuntu Sway Remix 25.04 is built on Sway, a composite manager utilizing the Wayland Protocol and the I3 mosaic window manager. It includes the PCManfm-GTK3 file manager and utilities from the nwg-shell project, such as desktop wallpaper manager azote, full-screen application menu nwg-drawer, script output program nwg-wrapper, GTK theme, cursor, and font manager nwg-look, and the script autotiling for dynamic window management.

The distribution also includes graphical programs like Firefox, Qutebrowser, Audacious, Transmission, Libreoffice, Pluma, and Mate Calc, as well as console applications including Musikcube, MPV, Swayimg, Zathura, Neovim, and Ranger.

A notable feature of Ubuntu Sway Remix 25.04 is the absence of the SNAP package manager, with all programs provided as Deb packages. The Firefox browser installation involves the official PPA-REPAROMENT MOZILLA Team. The distribution installer is based on the Calamares framework.
