Positive Tech Unveils Maze: Russia’s First Anti-Reverse Tool

Positive Technologies has announced the launch of a new service called PT MAZE, specifically designed to protect mobile applications from reverse engineering. This service marks the first of its kind introduced in the Russian market, aiming to enhance the stability of mobile software against analysis and hacking, thereby complicating the efforts of attackers.

Reverse engineering poses a significant threat to mobile applications, allowing attackers to identify vulnerabilities, clone programs, steal intellectual property, and modify applications to bypass restrictions or gain access to corporate infrastructure. This threat is ranked 7th in the Owasp Top 10, higher than it was a decade ago.

PT MAZE utilizes thread technology, developed through extensive studies of mobile software vulnerabilities. Compatible with both Android and iOS, the solution operates on a “Service” model, where the application is uploaded to a server for the application of protective modules. The service is user-friendly, with pre-installed parameters that do not require complex configurations.

According to Positive Technologies representatives, this tool can be employed across various industries where mobile applications are used, particularly in the financial and retail sectors. The service has already been included in the registry of Russian software, making it accessible to companies restricted from utilizing foreign solutions.

In Russia, the practice of countering reverse engineering remains relatively uncommon, with limited affordable tools available. The introduction of this new service is anticipated to address this gap, offering a standardized approach to enhancing application security against analysis and modifications.
