Grml Releases New Stable Version 2025.08
The latest stable release of the Live Distribution Grml 2025.08 has been presented, providing a range of programs essential for system administrators including data recovery and incident analysis. Based on the DEBIAN GNU/Linux package base, Grml celebrated its twentieth anniversary last year.
The graphic environment of Grml 2025.08 is built using the fluxbox window manager, with the ZSH command shell offered by default. The complete ISO image size is 990 MB, with an abbreviated version at 560 MB. Assemblies are available for X86_64 and ARM64 architectures.
In the latest release:
- The transition to the DEBIAN 13 package base and Linux kernel 6.12.41 has been completed.
- A new key has been introduced in the deb.grml.org repositories for certifying digital signature packages.
- Improvements in the Grml-live system include the integration of GRML-Autoconfig, GRML-ETC, GRML-Scripts, and GRML-Udev-Config packages, which were previously distributed separately. Localized and locks are now based on UTF-8.
- Reproducible assemblies for ISO files can now be created.
- Enhancements have been made to the Lang=”and” utility GRML-LANG.
