KDE Gear 08: New App Suite from KDE Project

After four months of development, the KDE project has presented the August Consolidated update of KDE Gear 25.25. This update includes issues for 249 programs, libraries, and plugins. Information on Live Gought Books and new applications can be found here. New versions of individual applications can be downloaded from flathub and synapcraft.

The most noticeable changes include:

  • Dolphin file manager now includes File Indexing (for searching using an index formed by a special Indexing service) and Simple Search (sorting files and directories upon request). Users can switch between engines using the Filter button accessible by clicking Ctrl+F. Additionally, users can also use Kfind for searching.

The update also adds the ability to access the utility filelight from the “Tools” menu for visually reviewing free and occupied disk space. New options have been added for selecting file display modes, toggling thumbnails, displaying hidden files, and choosing sorting modes.

  • The application krfb now allows for another user to access and view actions on the desktop of the current user.
  • Efforts have been made to reduce resource consumption and enhance the stability of the storage service akonadi, which is used in the email client, calendar-planner
/Reports, release notes, official announcements.
