IceWM 3.9.0, the latest release of the lightweight window manager, is now available. This window manager offers users full control through keyboard shortcuts, virtual desktop functionality, task and menu panels, as well as the ability to group windows using tabs. IceWM is easy to configure through a simple configuration file, allowing users to customize their experience with themes. Built-in applets for monitoring CPU, memory, and network traffic are also included, with third-party GUI tools available for desktop and menu editing. Written in C++, IceWM is distributed under the GPLv2 license.
The latest version of IceWM introduces support for cursor themes. Users now have the option to use Xcursor files as an alternative to XPM cursors. For designs that do not specify a cursor image, IceWM will utilize cursors from the Xcursor system themes. Loading cursor images now utilizes the gdk-pixbuf functions without the need for the libxpm library; instead, the Libxcursor library is now a dependency. The update also includes a new option in the utility iceh for outlining windows that are covered by others using the “-kovered” flag.
