KDE Introduces Initial Setting Master

Nate Graham Shares Latest Updates on KDE Development

Nate Graham, a developer actively involved in quality control within the KDE project, recently published a report highlighting the latest developments in KDE. One significant change mentioned in the report is the addition of the KDE Initial System Setup (KISS) to the branch that will serve as the foundation for the upcoming release of KDE Plasma 6.5. This system setup feature enhances the user experience by guiding users through essential tasks such as creating a new user profile, selecting language and time zone settings, configuring keyboard layouts, and setting up network access.

Among other notable changes in the KDE Plasma 6.5 branch:

  • Support for scrolling widgets in the panel has been added, enabling scrolling when elements exceed the available space.
  • In the Kwin composite manager, improvements have been made to the tone transformation curve when displaying HDR content, as reported.
  • The default configurator no longer displays settings for graphic tablets.
  • Enhancements have been implemented in the configurator to provide more relevant information about existing game controllers, details here.
  • The history of notifications now no longer shows missed event notifications during “do not disturb” mode, as
/Reports, release notes, official announcements.
