MiniOS 5 Launches, Built on Debian 13

Minios Linux has announced the release of version 5.0.0.0 of their distribution, based on Debian 13 “Trixie” and designed to run directly from a USB drive. The graphical environment of Minios 5.0.0.0 is built on XFCE. This distribution features a modular architecture that allows for customization by excluding or adding components to tailor the system to specific tasks. The release is available in three editions:

  • Standard (AMD64, 798 MB): A compact assembly suitable for everyday tasks. It prioritizes high performance and a simple interface, including essential tools like a web browser, file manager, text editor, archive, multimedia capabilities, and specialized Minios utilities for system installation, setup, module control, and drive management.

  • Toolbox (AMD64, 1.2 GB): A specialized distribution geared towards maintenance, diagnosis, and restoration of computer systems. It contains tools for disk management, network diagnostics, data safety, system testing, file system support, and virtualization. Intended for system administrators and technical specialists.

  • Ultra (AMD64, 1.7 GB): This edition offers an extensive set of software tools for servicing, diagnosing computer systems, and addressing office tasks. It includes all features of the Toolbox edition, plus an office suite, multimedia applications for graphics, audio, video, and containerization tools.

Some of the key changes in this release include:
