The release of the distribution Alt Virtualization 11.0 took place, which is built on the basis of 11 ALT platform (P11). This distribution is designed for servers and for implementing virtualization functions in corporate infrastructure. It is available for X86_64 and AARCH64 platforms. The product is provided under a license agreement, allowing free use for individuals but requiring legal entities to purchase a commercial license or enter into a licensed contract.
Starting from the eleventh version, the distribution is available in two editions – Virtualization-Pve and Virtualization-One, based on Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE) and OpenNebula platforms. As of now, only the PVE edition is available, offering features to manage virtual machines and containers using the KVM hypervisor, along with tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, CRI-O, and PODMAN.
Main changes in this release include:
- Updated versions of system components including Linux 6.12 kernel, GCC 13, Systemd 255, and Glibc 2.38.
- Updates to packages such as LXC 6.0, Qemu 92, Ceph 19.2, Openssl 3.3, Proxmox Backup Client 3.3, OpenVSWITCH 3.3, Corosync 3.1, Glusterfs 11.1, and ZFS 2.3.
- Installer improvements allowing creation of LVM Thin Pool logical section for fully configured Proxmox VE node setup.
- Enhancements to the Proxmox VE web interface for distribution updates, package control, and importing virtual machines from VMware ESXI vaults.
- Inclusion of the TUNED service for automatic optimization of hardware
