Distributive developers Artix Linux have recently unveiled experimental assemblies utilizing Xlibre, a fork of X.org Server. Artix Linux, which is founded on the ARCH Linux package base, is recognized for its utilization of alternative system managers like openrc, runit, dinit, and s6 instead of Systemd. For testing purposes, a Xlibre-based assembly has been created with the desktop environments XFCE, Cinnamon, and Mate, with sizes ranging from 2GB to over 4.6GB. The plan is to integrate Xlibre into the main assemblies of Artix Linux in the near future.
Users of existing Artix Linux installations can opt to switch to Xlibre by installing the package Xlibre-xsever and the necessary drivers Xlibre-xf86-* from the “Galaxy-Gremlins” repository. More information on transitioning to Xlibre on Artix Linux can be found here.
