Nate Graham, a developer engaged in quality control in the KDE project, published the latest report on the development of KDE. The most notable change was the addition of inertial scrolling using a touchpad to the KDE Frameworks 6.16 branch. Inertia can now be utilized in all scrolling areas of applications using Qtquick.
Another significant development is the implementation of Wayland protocol in the QT 6.10 support line, specifically the xx-Session-management-v1. This protocol allows for the restoration of interrupted session windows in a Wayland protocol-based environment, such as after the abrupt termination of a composite server or application. The support for this new protocol in QT paves the way for session restoration mechanisms in Plasma and KDE applications.
Recent changes in the KDE 6.5 branch include:
- Support for synchronization between the client and text server of the built-in RDP server located in the exchange buffer.
- Added a button for quick viewing of missed notifications in notifications related to the activation of the “do not disturb” mode.
- Introduced an explanation for keyboard usage.
- In the exchange buffer manager, a button for copying the displayed QR code to the exchange buffer is now available.
- Added a button to call the interface for changing icons in properties and applications based on Qtwidgets window.
- Indicated actions and conditions in the network connection control widget, like searching for wireless networks.
