New Platform for Broadcasting Rivendell 4.2 Radio Stations

Rivendell 4.2, a project release, is currently developing a sound processing platform that aims to automate the operation of multimedia studios and professional broadcasting stations. This platform consists of various components designed to handle tasks such as planning the air grid, streamlining compositions, automatically including voice tracks, exporting data for current and upcoming announcements, and maintaining podcasts. The code for Rivendell is written in C++ and is distributed under the licenses of GPLv2 and LGPLv2. For more information, visit the project’s GitHub page.

Key features of this platform include control through a simple graphic user interface, automatic receipt of radio programs via web, FTP, or satellite channels, automatic generation of podcasts, data transmission to stream encoders and RDS (Radio Data System) for current and upcoming compositions, direct interaction with software for traffic planning and broadcasting networks, manipulations with playback rhythm without changing tonality, integration with Axia equipment and other routers, and support for sound adapters of Audioscience.

The basic components of Rivendell include:

  • rdairplay – a graphical interface for broadcasting on air with support for control from the Soundpanel remote and Live Assist environment
  • RDLIBRARY – a system for managing the musical library that supports import and export of sound, as well as copying sound with audio CDs
  • RDCatch – an interface for automatic recording, obtaining and distributing content, and planning related tasks
  • RDLOGEDIT – an application for editing program logs to ensure broadcasting accuracy and determine transmission composition
  • rdlogmanager – a tool for automatic generation of logs based on templates and importing schedule information from third-party systems
  • rdcastmanager – a utility for publishing and managing podcast episodes
  • rdlogin – a component for organizing user connections to the system
  • RDADMIN – an administrator interface for platform configuration and control
  • rdpanel – a full-screen control panel for music tracks and sound effects
