Venezuela: start of military games with friends from Russia

Venezuela has been hosting since Monday, August 15, the “Sniper Frontier” events for international military games 2022, competition organized since 2015 by Russia and in which countries like China, Iran, India, Cuba or Burma or Burma .

The opening ceremony, part of which was broadcast live on Venezuelan public television, took place with great fanfare with parades, songs and speeches at Fort Terepaima de Barquisimeto (northwest).

This is the first time that Venezuela, which has had close relations with Russia, has welcomed competitions from these annual games which bring together around thirty countries, including Abkhazia, recognized by a handful of countries close to Moscow.

Venezuela, which is the subject of economic sanctions in particular from Washington which does not recognize the re -election of President Nicolas Maduro, has also approached Iran and China in recent years.

“The goal, the spirit of these games is to unite cultures and peoples more” than demonstrating his military skills, said the Venezuelan Minister of Defense, General Vladimir Padrino Lopez.

According to his ministry, a delegation of 200 Venezuelan soldiers was also sent to Russia to participate in other events of these games.
