Secretary general of Elysée, Alexis Kohler, indicted for illegal taking of interests

The secretary general of the Elysée, Alexis Kohler, was indicted on September 23 for “illegal taking of interests”, announced the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) Monday October 3.

m. Kohler “has also been placed under the status of witness assisted by the traffic chief

of influence. No judicial control measure has been taken against it, “said the PNF in a press release.

The Anticor association had filed a complaint due to the family ties of Mr. Kohler with the maritime freight operator Italo-Suisse Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). A judicial information for “illegal taking of interests”, “influence traffic” and “lack of declaration to the high authority for the transparency of public life” had been opened on June 23, 2020.

Alexis Kohler was accused by Anticor of not having reported his family ties to the Aponte family, the main shareholder of MSC. And this, while he had been led to take a position on this file in the name of the State, as assistant director of the Agency for State Participations, between 2010 and 2012, then on related issues, at Ministry of the Economy between 2012 and 2016. Mr. Kohler was then hired, in 2016, as MSC financial director and had participated in this respect in meetings with the Ministry of the Economy concerning the redemption of the Company of Construction Naval Stx France, a few weeks before his appointment as secretary general of the Elysée.
