Renaissance, a “single party” smaller than expected

While the Head of State had called for the creation of a “great political movement”, bringing together all the forces of the majority, only two small satellites will merge with the Republic on the march. And not the main allies, horizons and the modem.

The idea had been launched by Emmanuel Macron on the evening of the first round of the presidential election. The president-candidate called “all those who, for six years and until this evening [-outer], [had] hired to work in [s] sides to transcend their differences to come together in a great political movement” . Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17, the supporters of the Head of State are invited to move on to practical work and to “refound” the Republic on the march (LRM). On Saturday evening, the presidential training should officially become Renaissance, after two days of voting members on the new statutes and the new management team. The results will be revealed during a founding congress, where the new boss of this party, Stéphane Séjénéné, will speak, after the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne.

designate a successor

But, in a few months, the tenant of the Elysée had to review his ambitions. His project as a large single party, which was to bring together the entire Democratic and Progressive Arc, has gradually reduced to a merger between LRM and only two satellites: the micropartis territories of progress, piloted by Minister Olivier Dussopt (work) , and act, led by Franck Riester (relations with Parliament). While being allied, the two other training courses of the majority, the modem of François Bayrou and horizons of Edouard Philippe, will not be, anxious to keep their autonomy. The ecological movement of the left wing of the majority, in common, embodied by the former Minister Barbara Pompili and by the former deputy Hugues Renson, did not want to be integrated either.

concocted by Mr. Séjénéné, president of the Renew group in the European Parliament, in connection with the Elysée, Renaissance will have to prepare for the electoral deadlines, starting to reflect on the best process to designate a successor to Emmanuel Macron in 2027. Weights Heavy of the government, who have long disinterested in LRM, have decided to get involved. The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, will take care of the training in particular, and that of the economy, Bruno Le Maire, will be responsible for ideas.
