Originally online book seller, Amazon has continued to diversify since its creation in 1994, from supermarkets (Whole Foods) to streaming (Video Prime), via dematerialized computers (Cloud) .

In 2019, the Seattle giant launched a telemedicine service, called “Amazon Care”. Initially dedicated to the company’s employees only, the offer, which also includes home visits, was offered, in 2021, to all companies in the United States. In 2020, Amazon also put into service a prescription medication delivery platform, Amazon Pharmacy.

Previously, the group founded by Jezz Bezos had renounced an ambitious project, undertaken in 2018, of a new system of management of health care with the Bank Jpmorgan Chase and the conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway. “We believe that health care is high enough on the list of services that need renovations,” said Neil Lindsay.

Like its telemedicine service, Amazon says it wants to develop a more modern health offer, which adapts more to current, more personalized and less time -consuming lifestyles. “We see many opportunities to improve the quality of service and save people from time,” defended the manager.

One Medical is overseen by the company 1Life Healthcare, based in San Francisco (California), which was introduced on the stock market in early 2020.
