The Texan police recognized, Friday, May 27, having made an “error” by not immediately giving the class against the class where Salvador Ramos, the author of the shooting who left 21 people, was entrenched, including 19 Children, Tuesday, at Uvalde primary school (Texas). An admission that has further accentuated the despair of the families of the victims. For almost forty minutes, around twenty police officers remained inactive in the corridor of the school, while the children were terrified on the other side of the wall, in the middle of the lifeless bodies of their comrades and their two teachers, Irma Garcia and Eva Mireles.

During a press conference, during which he himself shed a few tears, the director of public security of Texas, Steven McCraw, did not hide anything from the inadequacies that surrounded the response of the forces of the order – four different units intervened – to a killing which lasted an hour and a half, while the first police officers had arrived on the spot five minutes after the attacker. “If I thought it could be useful in anything, I would apologize,” he said.

The manager detailed the new course of the drama, purged erroneous elements which were in the first reports. No one has obstructed the killer’s progress. No policeman was in faction at the school door: the man was absent. A police officer of the school district rushed well, having heard a first call on 911, but he did not see the shooter, masked by cars in the parking lot. Salvador Ramos fired on the school windows, then entered the premises through the rear door, unlocked by a teacher who had gone to look for her laptop. Two municipal police officers who pursued the attacker suffered fire and fell back. Entering at 11:33 a.m. in the premises, Salvador Ramos barricaded himself in classes 111 and 112, two communicating rooms. It was not shot at 12:58 pm

“Please send the police now”

At the same time, the officer revealed the content of the calls made by the children themselves to the emergency number 911. Another heartbreaker: “It is better to read them than to hear them,” he reported. At 12:03 p.m., half an hour after the start of the shooting, a little girl called 911 on her mobile phone. She whispered that she was in class 112. The schoolgirl, whose name was not revealed, recalled several times. At 12:10 p.m., to point out that there were several dead. Then, six minutes later, that eight to nine children were still alive. Since 12:03 p.m., at least 19 police officers were massed in the corridor. At 12:17 p.m., they had received reinforcements from a specialized border police unit. Behind the wall, the hostage children could hear the police. At 12:43 pm, the little one begged: “Please send the police now.” The agents stated at 12:50 pm. According to the manager, the little girl survived.
