Income Tax: reporting service, suspended after errors, is accessible again

The tax administration had to suspend the online reporting procedure on Friday after alerts concerning pre-filling errors for many public officials.

The online revenue reporting service, suspended on Friday due to pre-filing errors of certain statements, was restored Monday, April 11 in the morning, provided the Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFIP).

The analysis conducted by the tax administration made it possible to establish that the error concerned “about 1 million taxpayers”, all public officials. They had found a gap between their real income and that of their pre-filled declaration, said a spokesman for the DGFIP.

A message will be sent to them individually to explain the procedure to correct their statement, and the administration will then verify that the modifications have been made, added the spokesman.

Other taxpayers can perform “normally” their tax return of the year 2021, specifies the DGFIP in a statement.

The origin of the error has been found: it is a bad retranscription of overtime exempt hours on income for public service agents.

The alert had come last week of teachers who were worried about the gap between their income and that of their pre-filled declaration. Faced with this situation, the tax administration had to suspend the online reporting procedure on Friday, which had started the day before.

“These pre-filling deviations in the display have no impact on the amount of tax at this stage. Indeed, the source levy applied to the taxpayers concerned has been affected in any way”, affirms the DGFIP.

For almost all French households who choose to make their statement online, the deadline is from May 24 to June 8, depending on their department of residence. Households who can not make an online statement and therefore fulfill a paper statement, have on their side until 19 May at midnight to send it back.
