NSCDE Custom Surroundings Available 2.1

published Project release NSCDE 2.1 (Not So Common Desktop Environment), developing a desktop environment with a CDE retro interface (Common Desktop Environment), adapted for use on modern UNIX-like systems and Linux. The environment is based on the window manager fvwm with the theme of design, applications, patches and superstructures to recreate the original desktop CDE. Project code extends under the GPLV3 license. Add-in written on Python and Shell. The installation packages are formed for Fedora, OpenSuse, Debian and Ubuntu.

The purpose of the project is to provide a comfortable and convenient Surroundings for retro-style lovers supporting modern technologies and non-discomfort due to lack of functionality. To give the CDE user-defined user application applications for XT, XAW, Motif, GTK2, GTK3 and QT5, allowing you to stylize under the retro interface for the design of most programs using X11. NSCDE allows you to link CDE design and modern technologies, such as font rasterization using XFT, Unicode, dynamic and function menus, virtual desktops, applets, desktop wallpaper, design themes / icons, etc.

In the new version:

  • for Qt-widgets provided automatic generation of vehicles using the kvantum , which can be selected in Settings

  • Added Color Design Templates for Terminal Emulators
    Konsole and qterminal.
  • Simplified ColorMgr.Local Color Settings Template, which implements the ability to call functions from per /Share/Colormgr.Addons.
  • support to move the panel between monitors.
  • When initializing, a backup of the widget settings defined in files such as GTKRC and QT5CT.CONF are provided.
