When the dialog does not pass, it remains the letters, which allow you to explain the topics that are angry. But we wrote a lot, last week at Radio France International, the Radio de France Media World (RFI, France 24, MCD). However, these exchanges have not yet allowed to soothe the grievances that many employees maintain vis-à-vis their direction. It, they consider, underestimates the requirement of clarity and compliance with the ethical rules that are supposed to apply to all in the enterprise, which they have been in acutely demanding for several weeks.

At the origin of the protest: an interview conducted by a homemade journalist in Cameroon, at the end of November 2021, that the management was slow to condemn. At the time indeed, the journalist Alain Foka had broadcast, on his own YouTube channel (but in front of Siglés RFI and France 24), the remarks of a guest denigrating the work of a colleague; In an investigation called “Congo Hold Up”, carried out within a consortium of ninehaver international media, Sonia Rolley had just been involved in the revelation of the existence of diversion of public funds in Congo. As a first step, the management had described the work of the Youtubeur journalist of “irreproachable”, without providing explicit support to Sonia Rolley – a support that the investigator is always private.

The emotion that this response sparked became a motion of distrust, submitted on Tuesday 1 February to the vote of employees. “Trust yourself with the management of RFI to apply and enforce the ethical principles that govern any media, to defend and promote free and independent information?” He was asked for them. 67.1% of voters (55% participation on a college of 524 people) responded No.

A shot of seonce whose management did not seem to immediately take the whole measure. In the communication she sent in the wake, she “did not even take an act of the result of the motion,” regret Marie Normand, the president of the Society of Journalists. The collective of a hundred journalists at the origin of the motion resolved to bring a new message on February 2, by the SNJ-CGT: “Contempt and denial of reality can not remain a Mode of management, they wrote among others. A communication work will not suffice to stifle this crisis. ” The new answer that followed finally evoked (but without mentioning the incriminated person) a “professional misconduct” followed by a convocation and a sanction.
