Leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will hold an emergency meeting to discuss measures to normalize the situation in Kazakhstan. Reports about it TASS.

An extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Council will be held in video conferencing format on January 10. The president of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev acted with the relevant proposal. This initiative was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In early January in Kazakhstan, due to the increase in the price of liquefied gas, mass protests broke out, which turned into riots. The most significant collisions with security forces occurred in Almaty. The President of Tokayev called protesters to terrorists and turned to the CSTO countries.
