Russia’s proposals for security guarantees are based on the principle of reciprocity, they provide for the principle of mirror. The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Grushko said this in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper.
“Let’s say we offer to take away the exercises from the zone of contact along the border of Russia (and states consisting of it in the military union) and NATO,” the diplomat tells.
However, Grushko noted that it is not necessary to speak about complete symmetry because of “expansion and development of the territory of new members.”
