Authorities began to look for a way to sell laptops with Russian processors

The Ministry of Media Discusses with Foreign Manufacturers of Lenovo, HP and Acer Computer Manufacturers of Laptop Parts with Russian CPUs. About this with reference to sources close to the discussion of the initiative, writes “Kommersant”.

Meetings with representatives of companies were held on the topic localization of the production of consumer market of computing technology. In the near future, as they say in the protocol to one of the meetings, negotiations should begin on this experiment with the largest retailers.

According to the information of the lead analyst Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin, the plans for the release of 50 thousand laptops, of which 10 thousand will have to HP, the rest will distribute Lenovo and Acer. However, he pointed out, the search for the method to sell such products can only lead to the enterprises of the public sector and power structures, should not be counting on other buyers.

In the Ministry of Media confirmed plans for the production of laptops with domestic processors from 2023. The representative of the department stressed that foreign equipment should be fully compatible with the domestic microelectronics.

Acer General Director in Russia Dmitry Kravchenko said that the company studies the possibility of localization of production. In his opinion, the acceleration of the scoring system could accelerate the process to enter the register of domestic “iron”. This ruling would make the topic more understandable for market participants. In Lenovo and HP, it was refused to talk about specifics, and the manufacturer of Russian processors “Baikal Electronics” allowed the experiment.

Earlier, the developer of Russian processors “Elbrus” Company MCST warned that the acceptance of a scoring system from the Ministry of Industry and Communist Party in the current version would deprive its chance of a chance to participate in the lotners. The head of the company Alexander Kim is confident that devices with foreign processors will continue to enter the register of domestic products, and the customers will try to acquire the usual equipment by all means. He proposed to highlight devices with Russian processors in a separate category to ensure the demand for them regardless of the characteristics and quality of products.

In December last year, the largest Russian customers of server equipment tested computational techniques on domestic processors. In general opinion, the equipment turned out to be unsuitable for use in real conditions due to low performance, high power consumption and non-competitive price.
