CSTO forces became a decisive factor in the salvation of Kazakhstan from the state coup. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tleuberdi, was told about the prevention of attack peacemakers and the role of this fact in the events. This was reported by Euractiv.
“Yes, it is very unpleasant to realize that our law enforcement agencies could not respond to this massive and well coordinated terrorist attack. Therefore, I had to seek help in the CSTO,” said Tleuberdi. According to a high-ranking official, allied peacekeepers prevented the attack of militants at Nur-Sultan, which would be enough for the state version.
Tleuberdi considers the decision of the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Zhomart Tokayeva to call for the help of the CSTO forces faithful. “We did not promise anything [in return], we are not going to lose our sovereignty,” said Kazakhstan minister.
