Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan explained Nazarbayev’s involvement in protests

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi does not consider the former President of the country of Nursultan Nazarbayev and his family involved in the mass actions of protest in the republic. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

In response to the question, there were Nazarbayev and his family were involved in unrest, Tleuberdi replied that she didn’t think so, but the truth would show the investigation.

On Tuesday, January 18, the former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev made a statement for the first time since the beginning of the year and mass riots in the country. The ex-president spoke about protests, calling them a “lesson” for residents of the republic.

Mass protests flared in Kazakhstan in early January due to increased gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. Soon, the protesters demanded the resignation of government, re-election and lustration of people from Nazarbayev’s environment.
