Ambassador of Kazakhstan Recaped Plans for Development of Republic

The authorities of Kazakhstan do not intend to pursue a defense policy, all rumors about the systemic oppression of the Russian language in the republic are deprived of grounds. This was announced in an interview with RBC Ambassador of the Republic to Russia Yermek Kosherbaev.

He rejected the presence of plans for the leadership of the country to infringe on the rights of Russian carriers, stressing that almost all adult citizens own this language. “We have a problem more about our native Kazakh language,” Sosterbaev explained.

Diplomat noted that during the time of the USSR, most of the city’s urban population began to “lose the language” as unnecessary, and he himself simply did not develop. After the collapse of the Union, the language question in the country got up with all the sharpness. “Without the knowledge of the Russian language, you practically could not break into the highest echelons of power or to achieve some small success,” he said.

At the same time, according to Kosherbayev, despite the desire of the government to protect and expand the use of the Kazakh language, the Russian will remain the language of interethnic communication, as this provision is enshrined in the Constitution. “We are only fighting for the qualitative and correct use of the state Kazakh language,” the ambassador emphasized.

At the end of December 2021, President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev signed a law limiting the use of the Russian language in the service sector. He obliges entrepreneurs to translate all advertising, signs, price lists, price tags and menus to the Kazakh language. The Government and the Parliament of the Republic of Discrimination in the innovation did not see.
