ICAO considered a false message about mining of Ryanair aircraft

The International Organization of Civil Aviation (ICAO) found a false report on mining the Ryanair aircraft, as far as the landing in Minsk in May 2021. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“Since neither a bomb nor the evidence of its existence was found in preparing for landing in Athens and after various checks in Belarus and Lithuania, it is believed that the bomb message was deliberately false,” the report says. It is emphasized that the transfer of false information is contrary to the provisions of the Monter Convention.

It is noted that the group could not attribute the act of unlawful interference to any state. At the same time, the organization may not rely on the presence of confirmations of information in the form of calls and e-mails, as they were not provided.

ICAO report has become known on the night from January 17-18. On January 31, the Council of the Organization will hold a meeting on further action on the basis of the report results.

Ryanair aircraft, which followed from Athens to Vilnius, forced to sat down in Minsk at the request of the dispatcher in May 2021. Attach the aircraft had to report on the mining of the flight. As soon as the plane landed, the Belarusian special services arrested on board a blogger Roman Protasevich and his girl, civilian Russia Sophia Sarega. There was no explosive device in the plane. Oleg Galega’s Belarusian dispatcher, presumably participating in the incident, escaped from Belarus to Poland and called the episode of the special operation of the security forces.
