Belarus and Lithuania reacted to ICAO’s report on landing Ryanair aircraft

in Minsk and Vilnius were differently reacted to the report of the International Organization of Civil Aviation (ICAO) about the forced landing of the Ryanair aircraft at Minsk airport. The reaction of the Belarusian side transmits BELTA.

According to the employee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus of Artem Sikorsky, the report of ICAO proves the lack of pressure of Minsk on Ryanair FR4978 flight pilots. “The factory establishment team adopted the proof of the Belarusian side that there was no change in the route of the Ryanair route to land or changing the Ryanair aircraft route,” he said. From the evaluation of Sikorsky, we can conclude a confirmation of the Belarusian version of the events.

in Lithuania with a report, on the contrary, did not agree. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Gabrielus Landsbergis said that the document provided by ICAO contains gross and explicit violations. According to Landsbergis, there are no complete incident data in the report.

Ryanair aircraft, which followed from Athens to Vilnius, forced to sat down in Minsk at the request of the dispatcher in May 2021. Attach the aircraft had to report on the mining of the flight. As soon as the plane landed, the Belarusian special services arrested on board a blogger Roman Protasevich and his girl, civilian Russia Sophia Sarega. There was no explosive device in the plane. Oleg Galega’s Belarusian dispatcher, presumably participating in the incident, escaped from Belarus to Poland and called the episode of the special operation of the security forces.

ICAO report has become known on the night from January 17-18. On January 31, the Council of the Organization will hold a meeting on further action on the basis of the report results.
