NATO Secretary General told EU on results of negotiations with Russia for safety

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told the Ministers of Defense of the European Union (EU), which conduct informal meetings in French Brest, on the results of the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council. About this head of diplomacy of the EU Josep Borrel wrote on his page in twitter .

Borrel noted that as part of an informal meeting, representatives of European countries discussed the intervention of private actors in the European Union Mission with the Deputy Secretary General of the UN on the peacekeeping operations of Jean-Pierre Lacraua and the NATO General Council, who informed the participants about the results of negotiations with Russia.

Earlier, Stoleberg said that the Alliance was ready to agree to a number of Russian proposals, which do not undermine the basics of European security and do not threaten the sovereignty of NATO partners. “We made it clear that we were open to the dialogue that we could discuss many questions, but we cannot refuse the basic principles: such as freedoms of choosing your own path [from the point of view of entry or not to join the Alliance],” the Secretary explained. In addition, Stoltenberg said that NATO reserves the right to defend European allies and partners of the Alliance.
