Annual inflation in eurozone established a new historical record

Annual inflation in 19 eurozone countries in December accelerated to 5 percent, updating the record from August 1991. This is evidenced by the data of the European Statistical Agency Eurostat.

At the same time, according to analysts, the inflation by the DailyFX portal was expected to slow down inflation to 4.7 percent.

For last month, consumer prices in the eurozone, according to the preliminary estimate, increased by 0.4 percent. Basic annual inflation accelerated to 2.7 percent from 2.6 in November.

Earlier it was reported that the consumer price index in the eurozone at the end of November reached an absolute record in the entire history of the existence of the foreign exchange union.
