Thermonuclear reactor in China warmed up five times stronger than sun

Thermonuclear reactor in China set a record steadily high temperatures, reaching 70 million degrees Celsius. Reports about it The Independent.

Thus, the plasma in the installation warmed up five times stronger than the sun. In this mode, an experimental improved superconducting tokamak (EAST), known as an artificial sun, worked 1056 seconds. This is the longest time of the work of a similar apparatus in the world.

As the edition notes, the ultimate goal of the project is to develop almost limitless net energy that imitates the natural reactions occurring inside the stars. At the same time, the fossil fuel is not required for this process and does not leave dangerous waste. The project has already cost the Chinese authorities of more than 700 billion pounds.

In June 2021, Chinese scientists broke the record, reaching the plasma temperature of 120 million degrees Celsius for 101 seconds and 160 million degrees Celsius for 20 seconds.

EAST experiment is part of the project to create an international thermonuclear experimental reactor (ITER), which involves China, India, EU, Russia, USA and other countries.
