Scientists appreciated impact of Omicron strain on lungs

Coronavirus oomikron-strain can cause a less severe course of the disease, as it smoothes less lungs than other SARS-COV-2 options. This was reported by a group of scientists from the medical faculty of Washington University, Wisconsin University in Madison and Tokyo University. About it reports The New York Times with reference to the RESEARCH SQUARE magazine.

Experts were carried out experiments on mice and hamsters. It turned out that the Omicron strain struggled mainly the upper respiratory tract – the nose and the nasopherler, and spread to the lungs much less often than other options for coronavirus infection.

Animals infected with Omicron-strain, on average, the lighter symptoms of the disease were experiencing and less often encountered weight loss. Other options for coronavirus infection could cause scars in the lungs and a serious difficulty of breathing.
