US Navy seized in Arabian Sea Party of heroin for millions of dollars

The ships of the Fifth Fleet of the US Navy (US Navy) seized in the Arabian Sea the party of heroin worth about four million dollars. This was reported in ABC News.

During the international anti-drug operation in the Middle Eastern region, Polluli Ships USS Tempest and USS Typhoon arrested a fishing vessel without citizenship. The Navy told that, most likely, it belongs to Iran, since all nine crew members were Iranian citizens.

The total weight of the arrested heroin was 385 kilograms. In total, during the operation, it was possible to arrest the volume of narcotraphics with a total cost of 193 million dollars. In ABC News, it is noted that Iran continues to remain the main part of the transit route for Afghan heroin to the Middle East due to the length of the Afghan Border (1932 kilometer).

On November 17, the UN Office for Drug Control and Crime (UNEP UN) made a report from which it became known that the production of opium (main raw materials for heroin) in Afghanistan in 2021 increased by eight percent compared with 2020.

In 2021, about 320 tons of pure Afghan heroin were exported to the global market. The report specifizes that today heroin from Afghanistan accounts for 80 percent of world consumption of opiates, whereas in the 2020th this figure reached 85 percent.
