Second manual release “Linux for themselves”

Published the second edition of Guide “Linux for themselves” (LX4, LX4U), offering instruction to establish an independent Linux-system, using only the source code for the required software. The project is an independent branch from the leadership LFS (Linux From Scratch). The choice of the user is invited to multilib, EFI support, and a set of additional software for easy system setup. project developments posted on GitHub under the MIT License.

The main changes:

  • Made the transition to a platform generating static content mkdocs. As a result, the transition became possible to generate a PDF-version of the manual. In addition, the web version of the guide works correctly in the console browsers such as links and w3m;
  • As an option, the use of the classical hierarchy of the file system in which directory “/ bin”, “/ sbin and” / lib “are not symbolic links to the” / usr / {bin, sbin, lib} “;
  • Multiple edits and corrections in the text of the manual;
  • Thanks to the community feedback, made adjustments and clarifications in many areas.
