In Estonia, they announced rapid translation of Russian schools to Estonian

Estonian President Alar Caris called the rapid translation of Russian schools to Estonian due to teacher deficit in the country. He spoke in an interview with ETV + TV channel.

Caris expressed the conviction that Estonia needs to move “in the direction of transition to Estonian-speaking education,” but he stressed that for this I first need to solve a personnel question. “To declare today that tomorrow everything will be in Estonian, it is impossible. It is necessary to think about teacher training, and this applies not only to Russian-speaking schools, but also teachers of any schools in general,” he explained.

The head of state also noted that it is necessary to teach Estonian language from a kindergarten. “There are children’s tongue there, and they are not taught. If you start from kindergartens, everything will be more simpler,” the president added.

earlier it was reported that in his interview, Caris called the existence of Russian-speaking schools in Estonia. He recalled that in the country there is an opportunity to study in English and French, and pointed out that Russian in this sense should not be an exception.

December 7, the Ministry of Education of Estonia presented a plan for complete derucilification of education in the country. According to the document, by 2035, Russian-speaking schools will remain in the republic.
