With the help of the new Constitution, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, wants to strengthen in a few chairs, remaining president and heading the All-Belarusian Assembly, said Political analyst Dmitry Bolkolinets. In a conversation with “Tape.ru,” he said that the new version of the document does not meet the demands of society.

Bolkalnets noticed that the project also contains such a category of representatives of the Assembly as “representatives of civil society”. The tasteless formulation, according to him, indicates that the presented document turned out to be quite raw. But the main thing that will allow this new item of the Constitution – the possibility of Lukashenko to occupy the post of Chairman of the Assembly.
“There is such an article that before the formation of a meeting, in order to organize its appropriate work, the president holding a position can be elected chairman. And there is another addition to the Constitution – it is assumed that the president who left his post, has the right and the opportunity to become a lifelong member of the Council of the Republic, “Bolkinets emphasized.
Changes will affect the participation of citizens in the presidential election. According to the new Constitution, the right to be elected and be elected will receive only those who live on the territory of Belarus for more than 20 years. Appeared and age qualifications – a potential candidate must be at least 40 years old.
“This indicates that Lukashenko is afraid of young guys. Those who are in emigration. (…) This is an anti-people constitution that does not reflect the request of society to change. She only preserves him,” said Dmitry Bolknets.
He concluded that the draft constitution was written by Lukashenko himself for him and is designed only to strengthen his position.
The draft amendments and additions to the Constitution of Belarus was published for a national discussion on December 27. It is noted that the referendum date will be announced immediately after discussion.
